Shalom Almond – Director
I’m a passionate, multi-AACTA nominated observational documentary filmmaker, whose films follow memorable characters on transformative journeys and grant unique access to closed worlds. My trademark lies in my natural ability to form strong and trusting rapport and relationships with my subjects and their environments, which translates directly to the screen. I’ve made films in collaboration with First Nations hip-hop artists, Kayan refugees from Myanmar and young hill tribe girls of Vietnam. My most recent award-winning documentary SONGS INSIDE (2025) involved spending six months inside the Adelaide Women’s Prison with my camera following the story of a group women who sign up to a one-of-kind music program.
